The Problem

How to Highlight the Mall’s Back To School sales in a way that is both cost effective and engaging

Create additional dwell time in the Mall’s indoor courtyard and drive footfall towards it’s local vendors

Royal Mount - Montreal CA

To kick off the holiday season at Montreal's first luxury mall, Massivart and I were invited to design a series of strikingly oversized Activations, solidifying the mall’s position as a premier luxury retail destination.

Our goal was to create a captivating, larger-than-life experience that would leave a lasting impression and elevate the festive atmosphere, blending art with the elegance of the season.

The Problem

How to establish the newly opened Royal Mount as a Luxury Shopping destination

The Solution

Disrupt by turning the expected holiday decor into unexpected art installations

Moving away from the typical red and green Christmas iconography, each piece is a tribute to cherished memories, drawing inspiration from the nostalgic allure of rummaging through grandma’s jewelry box.

These installations transform the space into an elegant fusion of art and heritage, inviting viewers to rediscover luxury through a deeply personal lens.

Andares - Guadalajara MX

Created to celebrate the 20 years of Andares in sunny Guadalajara, this playful activation aims to draw attention to the mall’s upper garden while providing much-needed shade, turning the space into a colourful oasis that invites discovery, play and pause.

The Problem

The location has too much direct sunlight, resulting in little footfall & dwell time

People don’t necessarily notice the footpaths leading into the garden

The Solution

Create shade & turn heads simultaneously

Create colourful shadows to double the visual impact of the activation

Increase dwell time & footfall significantly

As light and shadow bounce off these canopies to hit the ground, they create an evolving tapestry of color that constantly transform the landscape around them, inviting us to pause and bask in the enchanting glow they beam.

Arturo Navarro - General Manager at Andares

With this activation we’ve seen a real boost in foot traffic around the installation areas and the visual appeal of our spaces has improved significantly.

Alejandra Torres - Manager of Innovation & Brand at Andares

The mood among visitors is incredible - these installations light up faces with joy, excitement, and surprise. It doesn’t matter the age, language, or why they’re visiting, everyone feels the magic.

Harmony Hub

Activation

GTC Town Center - Vancouver CA

An underutilized, transient space between Guildford Town Centre’s parking lot and mall entrance is transformed into a peaceful oasis, inviting visitors to pause & relax.

With a central tree as a focal point, the newly designed plaza creates a welcoming environment where shoppers can unwind & connect in a vibrant, rejuvenated space.

The Problem

Even with seating, the plaza doesn’t invite enough dwell time

The central tree and it’s shrubbery is mostly ignored by passersby

The Solution

Turn the space into a clearly defined and welcoming hub with additional seating and a clear brand identity

Design the bench to allow people to either face inward towards the tree, or outward

Use the circularity of plaza to enhance it’s overall architecture and central tree harmoniously through the design.

A circular bench with integrated table surfaces has been designed to nestle atop the existing concrete planter, enhancing both functionality and aesthetics - and extending to additional seating around the space.

Complementing this, an oversized staircase activation was introduced to serve as an inviting focal point from to entice curious vewers on the main thouroughfare.

Play On The Plaza

Activation

The Amazing Brentwood - Vancouver CA

To celebrate the 2024 Olympics and drive additional footfall to thier outdoor plaza, The Amazing Brentwood decided to broadcast the games there.

I was tasked with finding a way to create additional seating while getting thier clientelle excited about the event. The result is a series of playful game and seating modules that invite people to reclaim the plaza, disconnect and get directly get involved in the olympic spirit.

The Problem

The outdoor courtyard doesn’t have enough footfall

No clear way to advertise the client’s wish to broadcast the Olympics

Not enough seating to entice people to watch the games there

The Solution

Create game modules to drastically enhance footfall and get people in the Olympic Spirit

Create playful seating modules to double the amount of dwell areas

Create a sport themed branding & wayfinding to draw attention to the event’s broadcasting

These modules were designed to feel like a playful dialogue with the outdoor plaza’s linear geometry - as if parts of the paving had extruded into bursts of vibrant colour, disrupting and enlivening the rigid grid.
